God Particle is definitely another J.J. Abrams-produced Cloverfield movie, right?

On October 27, 2016, The Verge reported the big news about JJ Abrams’ God Particle being connected to Abrams’ Cloverfield series.  While several other outlets reported this news, Verge took the time to point out the hints that this third movie was coming based on the viral campaign for the previous movie, as well as former interviews with Abrams about the connections between the films.  Abrams had admitted the films under this “Cloverfield banner”, as the director calls it, are more loosely related than sequels.  The article also mentions the several fan theory sites dedicated to trying the unravel the Cloverfield mysteries.

Exclusive: J.J. Abrams explains that fateful ‘Force Awakens’ meeting

On October 8, 2016, USA Today received an exclusive clip of the Director’s Commentary from the upcoming Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  The article reports Abrams’ commentary on a scene from the film that has had fans debating.  The article acts as a sample of the biggest reason to buy this new Blu-ray as well as to remind the readers of the franchise’s next installment in December 2017.

JJ Abrams’ ‘God Particle’ Is Nothing Like ‘Interstellar,’ Says Star David Oyelowo

The Wrap reported on November 3, 2016 that in an interview, David Oyelowo, star of JJ Abram’s The God Particle, gave some information out about the film.  While he refrained from any spoilers, Oyelowo did reveal that the film is innovative both in technology and in story telling.  When it was revealed the story was to focus on astronauts struggling to survive, The Wrap asked if it was similar to 2014’s Interstellar.  The film’s star said that the only way in which the two were similar was that they are sent in space.

Bradley Cooper, David O. Russell, J.J. Abrams join Brian Grazer to raise money for nonprofit Ghetto Film School

On October 12, 2016, the Los Angeles Times reported on the fundraiser for the Ghetto Film School, a nonprofit that offers free filmmaking programs to high school students.  Abrams was in attendance and even mentioned the success the students from these programs were having interning for the director himself.  Some of these students even had the opportunity to be Stormtroopers in the recent Star Wars installment.  The organization raised $15,000 to be spent on video cameras.

Meryl Streep, J.J. Abrams Team Up for TV Series ‘The Nix’

The Hollywood Reporter announced on September 8, 2016 that Merly Streep is to star in a TV adaption of 2016 novel The Nix.  JJ Abrams is to be executive producer along with the novel’s author, Nathan Hill.

Ava DuVernay advised J.J. Abrams on the final Star Wars: The Force Awakens lightsaber battle

While JJ Abrams’ vision for Star Wars was well received globally, the director revealed he sought the help of a fellow director during the intense hero vs villain battle between Rey and Kylo Ren.  Ava DuVernay suggested to Abrams that he include an intense close up of actress Daisy Ridley’s face and Abrams reshot the scene after the advice.

Star Trek’s J.J. Abrams, Chris Pine, and more sign letter against Donald Trump

While many content creators would like to keep a comfortable distance between themselves and politics, members of the cast and crew of the rebooted Star Trek franchise have endorsed a letter opposing Republican candidate Donald Trump.   The letter was created by a group named “Trek Against Trump” on Facebook and claims Donald Trump and his beliefs are the opposite of the vision set out in Star Trek and urges readers to vote for the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton .  Of the names the page claims to have received endorsement from are JJ Abrams, reboot actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana, and original cast member George Takei.
