The upcoming Abrams’ produced film, “God Particle” is reportedly the next in a series of films Abrams has tied his name to, The Wrap reported on October 26, 2016. While Abrams’ production company and the studio partner Paramount Pictures have both not yet responded to this claim, there has been much speculation and The Wrap received their confirmation from an insider. While this is still speculation, the sci-fi film is still being produced by JJ Abrams.
Abrams had directed Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), but the franchise was handed over to Justin Lin for this past summer’s addition, Star Trek Beyond. The Huffington Post reported they had received an exclusive clip on why exactly the director left the Enterprise. Abrams believes directing the third movie would have “made the series stale” and wanted someone with a new perspective working on the films. The article also mentioned that aside from Star Trek Into Darkness, Abrams does not typically direct the sequels to his work.
